A comprehensive introduction to the natural healing science of ayurveda.
In this 6-week course, you will learn:
- Why your body is unique : Understanding the 3 Mind-Body Types
- Natural ways to support better digestion, elimination and metabolism;
- Introduction to the energetics of food and herbs;
- Exploring the Formation of Toxins : Physical, Genetic & Karmic
- Principles, therapies & herbs for cleansing, detoxification and chronic stress;
- Delicious recipes and self-care practices for energy and physical rejuvenation.
This course is ideal for you if:
- you want to explore natural, practical and time-tested principles for better health;
- you are ready to reconceive your relationship with your body, to improve digestion, energy levels and overall health;
- you want to reduce stress levels and create more balance in your day-to-day life;
- you are interested in learning more about natural healing arts, yoga, or other spiritual practices.
Each class will include:
- Self-reflection exercises, yogic breathing exercises and guided meditations;
- Knowledge and reading materials;
- Healing recipes and/or self-care practices;
No experience required. All welcome.

Briya Freeman has been facilitating courses in meditation and natural wellness in both private and corporate settings since 2012. As a facilitator and guide, she is known to offer depth of insight that is refreshing, inspiring and real.
Briya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and over 10 years of studies in natural health, yoga, meditation, herbalism, and ayurveda, including studies at the Anjali School of Panchakarma and Ayurveda (Kerala, India). She is a long-term student of Berdhanya Swami Tierra, a mystic and shaman of South American origin.

Course Overview by Week
Class 1: Introduction to Ayurveda & Self-Connection
The holistic science of ayurveda as a foundation for self-healing. Introduction of the 3 mind-body types (doshas), including physical, emotional and mental tendencies, and dietary & lifestyle recommendations. Introduction to the importance of balance (inner and outer) as a foundation for natural, radiant health.
Class 2: The Energies of Life & The 6 Tastes
How our body-mind is shaped by the energies of the food, relationships and environments that we consume. Introduction to the energies of life (gunas) to support a conscious lifestyle. Exploration of the physiological and psychological impacts of 6 tastes in our food choices, and their importance in creating a balanced body-mind.
Class 3: Improving Digestion With Ayurveda
Good digestion is a key factor in your overall health. Proper digestion supports your energy levels and the healthy formation of bodily tissues (e.g. muscles, hair, skin, nails, blood, fat, skin, reproductive organs). Poor digestion, weak metabolism or improper elimination will inevitably create problems in other parts of the body.
We’ll discuss the importance of strong digestive fire (agni) to support overall health, strong metabolism and prevent disease. You will be provided with simple and sustainable ways to connect with your body, improve digestion and prevent the formation of toxins (ama).
Class 4: Sustainable Self-Care Through Daily Routines
In ayurveda, daily routines are considered to be a stronger healing force than any other medicine, a powerful way to align your highest intentions with conscious action. This course introduces ayurvedic routines for morning, noon and evening to promote energy, natural health and passionate living.
Class 5: Understanding Toxins: Physical, Genetic & Karmic
Introduction to 3 types of toxins : physical, genetic and karmic. How to understanding toxins (ama) from an ayurvedic perspective : the formation of toxins and repercussions on the health of the body-mind (e.g. digestive issues, weight gain, depression, congestion, pain, mood swings, disease). Introduction to ayurvedic food combining.
Class 6: Detoxification Practices & Seasonal Balance
Ayurveda recognizes that each season (e.g. summer, fall, winter, spring) has a distinct energy and impact on the body-mind. We will explore natural ways to align with these energetic and physical fluctuations, including a balanced approach to dieting, cleansing and self-nurturance. Introduction to ayurvedic detoxification (panchakarma) as a healing modality and a simple cleanse you can do at home. Supports balanced energy, stamina, stress resilience and total health.
